Breckenridge Brewery Releases Peachfork Wheat
Denver, CO – October 14, 2010 – As a send-off to summer, Breckenridge Brewery of Colorado, LLC releases Peachfork Wheat in draft. The fresh peaches used in this beer come straight from Peachfork Orchards & Vineyard of Palisade, Colorado. This family farm began as the passion of one woman – the grandmother of brewery employee Sarah Burns. Colorado White Wheat, from Colorado Malting Company in Alamosa, CO, rounds out the local flavor of Peachfork Wheat.
This “field to fermenter” beer style is a concept that the brewery plans to offer with each annual Colorado harvest. Says Todd Usry, brewmaster and general manager, “I’ve always wanted to marry the Palisade peach goodness with our brewing style. It seems a natural fit, and the relationship with Sarah brought it to fruition.” Peachfork Wheat can be found in draft form at Breckenridge Brewery locations and other select taverns and restaurants.
The Peachfork is a family owned, family farmed, solar powered, orchard and vineyard. The Brennan family has been raising fruit at this Palisade Colorado location since 1972. What began with 7 acres of dwarf apple trees has blossomed to 32 acres of apples, grapes and peaches. Working together as a family (with a little help from Babydoll sheep) they specialize in raising high-quality fresh fruit in harmony with the forces of nature.
Colorado Malting Company malts some of Colorado’s most superb malt. As long time growers of Coors barley, the Cody family has always known a thing or two about raising great malt barley in the San Luis Valley. Now, teamed up with some of the most talented brewers and maltsters in the industry and barley growers from the San Luis Valley, Colorado Malting Company truly has something special.
Breckenridge Brewery celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The brewery was founded in 1990 in Breckenridge, Colorado. In the past two decades Breckenridge Brewery has grown from a small 3,000-barrels-a-year brewpub to one of the most successful craft beer companies in the nation. It now handcrafts nearly 30,000 barrels of fresh beer annually and owns and operates 4 pubs in the state of Colorado.
