Ballast Point Reef Rye Makes Its Debut This Thursday!
We make lots of different brews. There are always at least nine different beers on tap at Scripps Ranch and up to 15 at any given time at our Linda Vista location. Dry hopping, barrel aging and various other treatments sometimes allow us to make “new” beers from existing recipes, but it is rare that we produce something completely new. Now is one of those times. To celebrate, this Thursday 4/2 we will be pouring a Cask conditioned version of our newest creation:
Reef Rye Brown Ale
Deep brown in color, this beer is medium bodied with a pronounced hop flavor. The really interesting part is that all this hop flavor is achieved without a noticeable bitterness. The flavor of rye malt imparts a uniqueness to the brown malt flavor and is complimented by the dry hops and crushed coriander added post-fermentation. The aroma is one you need to experience to really understand.
We have added a small amount of Goldings Hops to the cask, which we will tap at 11am Thursday at our Scripps Ranch brewery. Come by and have a pint of our newest creation and let us know what you think. All of our past Thursday casks have emptied before closing time (7pm), so don’t miss out. Get here as early as you can.
