Bagby Beer Company Begins Construction Soon
Award winning former Pizza Port brewer Jeff Bagby has been cronicling the creation of his own brewery in North County San Diego. Below is an excerpt from his latest blog entry outlining the beginning of construction of Bagby Beer Company.
So, at long, long last, we have begun what is shaping up to be a tremendous build out at our ‘little’ brewpub site. We are more confident than ever that we have picked the ideal location for all the awesome things we hope to bring to the North County San Diego, Oceanside, and Craft Beer communities.
Serious demolition is slated to start sometime in the next couple of weeks – even though there has been a quite a bit of work done already. We’ve had a ton of help from some dedicated, generous friends of the Bagby Beer Company to get things rolling.
The schedule has been pushed out longer than we hoped as we have worked diligently to ensure the design and specifications are just right for our GC, Mike Wheelihan of Wheelihan Construction. It is tentatively looking like an early-2014 opening date. All is on track with ABC licensing, general building permits, the brewing system, and marketing/branding, among what feels like a million other things.
There’s no rush to right, as true for a well-made beer as it is for our project. While we know that a certain degree of compromise and negotiation are certainly a part of most important things in life, know that we intend to continue to take our time to be sure what we build is just what we envision.
