Allagash Brewing News – Fluxus, Brewery Only Sours, Collaborations and More
We recently caught up with Allagash Brewing of Portland, ME. Items of discussion include the upcoming Fluxus 2013, their sour program, collaborations and more. Cheers!
Are any new products slated for the rest of this year or the beginning of next year?
With our recent added capacity, we now have the ability to produce more “one-off” beers. Our plan is to keep up with production of our year round beers and supplement them with “one-offs” and experimental beers. For July, we have our annual release of Fluxus, a beer that changes every year. This year, it is a Belgian style Porter brewed with Blood oranges.
Will any of your brewery only sours make it to limited or full distribution in the next 6-12 months?
One of the reasons that we expanded our wild barrel room last year was to be able to produce more volume of “sour” beers and be able to distribute to our whole distribution network. That is still the plan. We have a couple of candidates for “national” release for 2013/2014.
Any brewer collaborations slated for the next 6-12 months. If so, with whom?
We just finished brewing with De La Sienne again. We are rebrewing the “Very Speciale Belge” that we brewed with them in Brussels about 3 years ago. Nothing else planed at this time.
Any plans for label facelifts or format changes to Allagash’s packaging?
We are currently looking at an update to our Tripel and Double 750mL bottle labels.
Any new markets targeted for expansion or any markets you might pull out of?
We are still working to keep up with our current markets. As for pulling out of any markets, that is not the plan but we have found that it is a good idea to keep open to all options given the ever changing state of our industry.
