Oskar Blues Metal Cans Grab Medals
Oskar Blues Places in “Best of Show” and Collects More Medals at the Second Annual Denver International Beer Competition
Denver, CO – Oskar Blues Brewery, best known for kicking off the craft beer in a can revolution, has transcended the canned beer package grabbing several medals for the beer inside the trailblazing metal cans at the second annual Denver International Beer Competition.
The 2011 Denver International Beer Competition has been officially sanctioned by the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program). Nineteen Certified Beer Judges participated in the blind tasting of more than 180 domestic and international beer entries from more than 20 US states and six countries. The judges awarded 46 medals for 16 beer categories, including “Best Of Show.”
Below are the details for each of Oskar Blues’ three winning beers:
Best of Show: Bronze for Dale’s Pale Ale
Pale Ales/Bitters: Gold for Dale’s Pale Ale
Strong Ales: Silver for Ten FIDY, and Honorable Mention for Old Chub
Set in the heart of Colorado craft beer country, Oskar Blues Brewery in Lyons began canning its beers in November of 2002 with a hand-canning line in the 60- year-old barn next door to their funky little brewpub. Although it’s now a full-throttle canning operation that is quickly expanding its cult-like following across the nation, Oskar Blues remains true to its original mission of simply blowing minds with what can come out of a can of beer.
