Review – Samuel Smith Winter Welcome
Nominated in our Best Holiday Beer Poll
Samuel Smith: “Full-bodied, honey-amber colored ale with great depth, balance and richness. An ale to be shared with friends when the chill in the air and frost on the trees make a warm fire and good conversation all the more inviting.”
Samuel Smith Winter Welcome Ale – 550 ml bottle poured into a Samuel Smith pub glass. 6.0% abv.
Appearance: A reddish gold with a small, white foamy head. Visible carbonation through this foggy beer.
Aroma: Banana, brown sugar, caramel, and a tad whiff of hops.
Taste: Metallic and floral hops, brown sugar, and bread crust.
Mouthfeel: Thick and full. Very carbonated.
Overall: The most flavorful Samuel Smith out of the line up. In a blind tasting, you would be able to identify this as an English crafted ale, particularly one made by Samuel Smith.
