Review – Stoudt’s Pils
Stoudt’s Brewing Company Pils
4.7% abv
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a chilled pint glass.
Appearance
Light yellow and very clear. After pouring, there was about 3/4 inch of creamy, foamy head that left a nice even lace around the glass.
Aroma
This beer smells quite dry and bready. I got a very crisp smell from the bitterness flowing into my nostrils that was actually enjoyable.
Taste
Sharp and very clean. Essences of biscuits with noticeable hops and bitterness. This pilsner is so smooth that it just flowed down my throat like roaring rapids.
Mouthfeel
Quite dry but also somehow very refreshing. This beer left my mouth feeling a little tart and fizzy.
Overall
This beer smelled so good that I couldn’t wait to taste it and it did not leave me disappointed. It was obvious how refined this beer was in terms of clarity and taste, which was very refresing for a microbrew. I often think about trying lighter beers like this pilsner but usually find myself grabbing something more hoppy and big. However, this beer changed my mind and I know that I will be sampling many more pilsners in the weeks to follow because this was just a terrific brew!
