Flying Dog BrewDog International Arms Race Zero IBU IPA
From Flying Dog – An IPA with no hops by two breweries separated by sea? Dodge the draft, hide your wives, and guard your children. The International Arms Race is on! Flying Dog Brewery and BrewDog’s International Arms Race Zero IBU IPA pits brewer against brewer in a battle of the brewing arts. Unlike your standard collaboration, each brewery will craft its own version of the beer, only guided by common ingredients. To achieve a Zero IBU IPA, the brewers agreed upon a list of ingredients – spearmint, bay leaves, rosemary, juniper berries, and elderflower – to replace the bitterness typically imparted by hops.
Flying Dog Brewery – Flying Dog/BrewDog International Arms Race Zero IBU IPA – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 7.5% abv.
Appearance: Pours a hazy yellow gold with a white cap of head.
Aroma: Wrigly chewing gum. Double mint and or big red. I know one is mint and one is cinnamon, but it goes back and forth from those two particular odors. Also some dog shampoo.
Taste: Selson blue, pine, earth, mint.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied.
Overall: In war, nobody wins, and in the case of this “Race” or “War”, we are all losers. This was barely drinkable, and I enjoy a good spiced/herb vegetable beer. The BrewDog version was even worse and stopped mid way through the tasting notes.
