Review – Sierra Nevada ESB
From Sierra Nevada Brewing – Our ESB combines the best of English tradition with West Coast style. A blend of malts featuring British-grown Maris Otter is balanced with the earthy spiciness of hand-selected English and US hops. The ale is left unfiltered, which enhances mouthfeel and hop aroma creating a slightly reddish-copper hue.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. – ESB (Early Spring Beer) – 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass – 5.9 % abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market Arroyo, Pasadena, CA.
Apperance: Pours a clear brown with a small sudsy head.
Aroma: Bready yeast and wet dog!
Taste: Spicy hop, bready yeast and caramel.
Mouthfeel: Refreshing and full.
Overall: Nice full flavored session beer. It didn’t knock my socks off, but I would tell a good beer drinking friend, this beer is non-offensive.

I tried this at Dawson’s on Friday. I caught a whiff of peaches on the nose. The bitter hops was a change from the aromatic hops I’ve fallen in love with in IPAs. Not a beer I’d go to every time, but a nice change from the usual. Their Torpedo was very good, though. I also got a SN pint glass and bottle opener key chain for my efforts.
