Review – Avery The Czar Imperial Stout
Avery The Czar Imperial Stout Bottled in 2007. 22 oz 11.73% abv. Poured in to my New Belgium glass.
Appearance:
Black with an off white stripe for head.
Aroma:
Smoke, coffee, and black pepper.
Taste:
Black coffee, wood fire smoke, burnt malts. There is a hint of dark dried fruit. A very bitter Russian Imperial Stout.
Overall: Too dry and bitter for my liking. I am going to let my other one age for over a year to see if something new becomes of it. It reminded me of North Coast Old Rasputin. Some people like a dryer RIS, but I like mine a bit more fruity or chocolaty.
