Blue Point Brewing Releases White IPA in Cans
White IPA is first “can-only” year-round package.
PATCHOGUE, NY – July 24, 2012 Blue Point Brewing Company, Long Island’s oldest and most award-winning craft brewery, is proud to announce the official release of White IPA, their latest craft brew and first package to be available year round in 15 states only in 12-oz. cans. A white, or wheat, beer-IPA hybrid that is well on its way to creating a new style for the beer description books, Blue Point Brewing Company’s White IPA cements the brewery’s reputation for being at the forefront of fermentation experimentation.
While beer enthusiasts have been able to enjoy White IPA on draft in select craft beer bars from Florida to Michigan since mid 2011, six-packs and cases will now be available for purchase to enjoy at home. An unfiltered European-style white ale with a fresh American IPA finish, Blue Point White IPA is brewed with malted and unmalted wheat, finished with just the right amount of west coast hops, and fermented with German yeast to give it a well balanced character with the perfect amount of bitterness. “We’ve never seen a new beer move like this. It’s been such a challenge keeping up with demand for White IPA on draft that we had to delay the release of the cans until after the peak summer season” said Blue Point president, Pete Cotter.
Earlier this year, Blue Point Brewing Company joined the ranks of some of the leading craft breweries in the country with the release of their flagship, award-winning Toasted Lager and Summer Ale in cans this spring, helping to change the misconception that bottled beer tastes better. “Canned beer is a win-win for everyone.” said Blue Point co-founder and brewmaster, Mark Burford. “Cans seal tighter than bottle caps and sunlight can’t penetrate them. They’re more environmentally friendly, easier to recycle, lighter and cheaper to ship, and they don’t break. Now, craft beer drinkers can enjoy their beer at the beach, at festivals, poolside, or anywhere glass bottles are typically prohibited.” Burford added.
Blue Point White IPA cans are available in the tasting room at 161 River Avenue in Patchogue and are on their way to beer store shelves in all 15 states of distribution: New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Michigan.
