Heavy Seas Big DIPA

Submitted by Dan on June 5, 2009 – 8:04 am 2 Comments

Heavy Seas Big DIPABeginning late June – the NEW Heavy Seas Big DIPA a 10.6% Double IPA will be available in 22oz bottles in a very limited quantity. But the greatest treasure will be to find the Big DIPA on tap in your neighborhood as the number of kegs will be extremely limited.

We’re adding to the Heavy Seas fleet with bigger beers in bigger bottles!

Big DIPA – Double IPA, is the first in the Heavy Seas Special Edition Series due to be released in mid June. Hopped 3 times in the brewing process, Big DIPA has an earthy hop aroma. In keeping with the Heavy Seas philosophy we’ve made a big beer with a surprising balance. The best part is that you’ll hardly notice it’s 10.6% ABV (est). The label artwork was created by Kurt Krol, one of our brewers who also helped to develop the recipe.

Here are the  stats:

Hops: Centennial, Amarillo
Malts: American 2-Row, Crystal, Biscuit
ABV: 10.6%
IBU: 75.5

I got the chance to taste it at the BAM Springfest. It was nicely balanced and really drinkable. Just wish it was bottled already
