I appreciate this article. I see all of these best beer cities in the US and low key beer cities in the US and I NEVER see Sacramento on the list. If only people really knew what is happening here. You’re spot on with the places people need to check out. No one even knows about Dunloe, but they’re amazing. Quick add, Flatlands in Elk Grove, 15 min drive from Downtown

Great article. It’s nice to see Sacramento getting some craft beer love. Some great breweries and tap houses. I love how you mentioned beers in sac and beer frontier. Both do a great job. Facebook has (2) good beer pages as well. Sacramento Beer Enthusiasts (one of the largest most active beer pages on FB) and Sacramento Beer Group (a great page with some of the best and rarest beers you will see).

Thank you for the Sacramento Love! ???? Cheers!

The comment section would be better if people didn’t comment simply to pimp their own product.

But you didn’t mention [my favorite brewery]. You are a bad person.

Great article! Love the overview and focus on the Sac area. As a manager of a local Sac restaurant, it’s been exciting to be a part of this scene.

Once again, brü co. gets left off the list of taprooms with great food and world class tap lists… thanks for the exclusion

So classy. I will be sure to skip it again next time I visit Sacramento just to hear you cry.

Sorry, my comment was crappy. Had a really bad day which is no excuse. Cheers and thanks for pointing out my stupidity

Blue Note Brewing in Woodland definitely deserves to be mentioned. And they have AC too.

Talking about Sacramento breweries and excluding Moonraker is criminal. Urban Roots is killer. Claimstake as mentioned in the comments is great, but locals know. That’s strike two for omitting them as well. Track 7 has food, and we have like 15 breweries to talk about before Device. Thanks for the shout out to the 916, but there are some holes in this list.

Chris, Moonraker is in the the article. As for the other locations you mentioned, they all do a great job. This was not meant to be a “best of” but more of a representation of the area. That’s why I included Beers in Sac and Beer Frontier, both do an excellent job of highlighting the area. Cheers

There’s also an easily digestible beer podcast that features conversations with the brewers/owners and beer-loving people of Sacramento (comedians, musicians, writers, business owners, etc) called Barley & Me, recorded on site at these breweries, if you want to get a feel for the spots before you go.
    Sincerely,
    The host of said podcast

If you are going to point out breweries that are a bit of a drive in Davis you should address all of them (or at least Super Owl which is growing in popularity), Blue Note in Woodland or Berryessa Gap in Winters.

Greg, I couldn’t list every brewery. Even if I tried, I would still miss someone’s favorite. Hopefully the article will shed light on the entire area, and then people plan their visit. Cheers

Berryessa Gap is the name of a winery, not a brewery.

Yet no mention of one of the best in Sacramento, Claimstake. I’m not sure this article has any validity.

This was intended to highlight the area, not rate every brewery. I’ve been to Claimstake many times, and I enjoy their beer. Cheers.
