Ready, Set, Shoot. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, DE) has teamed up with Texas’ Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas for their third annual short film competition. This year’s “Off-Centered Film Fest” will take place April 3rd and 4th at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Lake Creek in Austin, Texas.

The 2008 Off-Centered Film Fest marks the third film competition for Dogfish Head in as many years. “We are very excited to partner with Alamo, blow this into a 2-day film festival and bring it all to Texas,” explains Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione. “With Alamo’s off-centered approach to film and their support of great beers, we knew they were the perfect partners to make this into a full-fledged, fun time,” Calagione adds.

The “Off-Centered Film Fest” will screen over two nights at the Lake Creek location and will include beer dinners and other beer-related films. Alamo has nine Drafthouse Cinemas in Texas. The first Alamo Drafthouse Cinema opened its doors in 1997. A unique combination of theater and restaurant, the Alamo shows the best first-run and independent films and offers an extensive menu of fresh, handmade dishes and a wide selection of beer and wine. In addition to offering this comfortable, full-service environment, the Alamo is recognized worldwide for is eclectic programming, award-winning food, and one-of-a-kind special events. As director Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) said, “The Alamo is way cool.”

Films which will be considered for the “Off-Centered Film Fest” must be no longer than five minutes in length, must include a storyline containing the concept of an underdog or be a mock ad, and must include a reference to Dogfish Head in the script or have Dogfish Head product placement in the film. Filmmakers are invited to submit their short films by February 15, 2008 for consideration. Winners will be flown to Austin for the April festival and cash prizes totaling $3500.00 will be awarded.
