Deschutes Brewery Brings Home Three More Great American Beer Festival Medals

Deschutes Brewery brought home three medals from the 2008 Great American Beer Festival Competition, the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States today.

The top three winners in each of the competition’s 75 beer-style categories were announced October 11th at the 27th Great American Beer Festival Awards Ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

Deschutes Brewery took home gold medals in the Extra Special Bitter or Strong Bitter category for its Bachelor ESB, the American-Style or German-Style Sour Ale category for The Dissident, and took the bronze medal in the Gluten-Free category for its Gluten-Free Golden Ale (also known as Chinquapin Butte Golden Ale). Deschutes Brewery also won the Best Booth award at this year’s competition thanks to Woody, the Brewery’s big wooden barrel shaped mobile bar.

The 2008 Great American Beer Festival Competition winners were selected by an international panel of 127 brewing experts from an impressive field of 2,902 entries received from 472 U.S. breweries.

“We look forward to the GABF each year,” says Gary Fish, Deschutes Brewery President. “It’s an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious festival.”
