SweetWater Dank Tank Wet Dream

Submitted by Dan on October 29, 2009 – 10:50 am No Comment

Sweetwater Brewing - Wet DreamFrom SweetWater BrewingA high gravity imperial red ale featuring 420 pounds of –fresh off the vine- Chinook Hops from Van Horn’s Farm in Washington State. These hops were freshly picked and immediately shipped overnight to the brewery and so they could be added into the brew within hours of being taken from the field.

SweeetWater Brewing – Dank Tank Wet Dream Fresh Hop Ale – 22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 7.5% abv.

Appearance: Pours a deep clear amber with visible rising carbonation. The head is a beautiful, dense creamy eggshell white.

Aroma:  Of note, I can smell this bad boy from a far.  Aromas include grapefruit, orange zest, and some dank resinous buds.

Taste: Grapefruit, orange, a touch of pine, dark sugar in the initial generous sip. Finishes with grapefruit bitterness, but it’s definitely not abrasive. The bitterness balances with the sugary sweetness quite well.

Mouthfeel: Sticky and creamy.

Overall: Very fresh, very tasty, very balanced. Almost reminded me of something I would get from the Pacific North West, but with a bit more in the aroma department.
