Southern Tier Harvest Ale

Southern Tier Harvest AleFrom Southern Tier: Harvest Ale is our celebration of the changing weather and the sowing of hops and barley that will be used in our upcoming brews. We usher in the fall with a classic English style Extra Special Bitter of the highest order. Deep ruby in color with an even deeper hop flavor… in fact, we throw fresh English hops into every brewing vessel, then dry hop after fermentation to impart a zesty kick. This beer has real hop character that mingles with fresh malted barley for an experience that will make you wish it were fall year ‘round.

Southern Tier Brewing – Harvest Ale – 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 5.7% abv. Purchased at Monster Beverage – Glassboro, NJ.

Appearance: Pours a deep yellow gold with a 1/8 inch of dense white foam. You can see a good amount of rising bubbles in the body as you hold it up to the light.

Aroma: Slight amounts of citrus, pear, bread notes mixed with some sweetness.

Taste: Light amounts of lemon and bready dry malt. Finishes with a decent amount of clean bitter Euro hops. The hop bitterness lingers well after the sip.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and creamy.

Overall: A nice showcase of European hops.  I can’t say this beer blew my mind, but it’s above average in my book.
