Review – Victory Prima Pils

Submitted by Dan on May 7, 2009 – 8:19 am 2 Comments

Victory Prima PilsFrom Victory Brewing Co.Heaps of hops give this pale lager a bracing, herbal bite over layers of soft and smooth malt flavor. This refreshing combination of tastes makes Prima a classy quencher in the tradition of the great pilsners of Europe. Dry and delightful, this is an elegant beer.

Victory Brewing Co. – Prima Pils – 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 5.3% abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market, Arroyo Pasadena, CA.

Appearance: Pours a clear yellow gold with a tight knit 1/4 inch head.

Aroma: Bready biscuity malt and modest bitter hopping.

Taste: A mouthful of bitter hops, dry light malt followed by more bitterness and spicy hops.

Mouthfeel: Thin and refreshing.

Overall: A nice , well made beer.  I would add this to my session rotation if it wasn’t $10.00 a six pack.

$10 a six pack is the norm for just about any IPA out here. Therefore, sessions really don’t exist for me.

Thanks. We are proud of this one. 5 Pennsylvania pilsners were in the NY Times top 18 selections (April 29), Prima being their top choice.
