Tröegs Mad Elf Holiday AleTröegs Mad Elf
11% abv

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a room temperature pint glass.

Appearance
Medium ruby red/amber color with some beautiful creamy head sitting a half inch on top.

Aroma
Bread and fruit at first followed by some rich malt whiffs. Interesting combination of malts, including crisp pilsner malt provided a wonderful smell.

Taste
The traditional Hallertau noble hops imparted a smooth initial taste followed by the almost too sweet fruit flavors. Cherries, dates, raisins and other dark, ripe fruit flavors made this beer quite enjoyable during the holidays.

Mouthfeel
A good carbonation explosion without taking away from the smoothness made this beer very drinkable. With the alcohol content being rather high, I expected this to be a warm sipper. Boy was I surprised. Although maybe too much for some palates, I enjoyed drinking this high-octane beer.

Overall
Great beer for the holidays due to the festive ingredients and clever marketing. Tröegs does not disappoint again with their creative approach to making unique yet delicious beers.
