Review – Schlafly Reserve Oak Aged Barleywine

Submitted by Dan on June 23, 2009 – 12:20 pm One Comment

SchlaflyFrom The Saint Louis Brewery - You’ll impress everyone when you serve this with grilled meats and game, roasted vegetables, or any fried food. Leave the corkscrew in the kitchen drawer and pop open a beer that will reward you with more flavors than most wines can dream of.

The Saint Louis Brewery – Schlafly Reserve Oak Aged Barleywine – 750 ml bottle poured into a goblet. 10.2% abv.

Appearance: A dark mohagany with an impressive 1/2 inch fluffy head.

Aroma: Peaches, cinnamon, and a tickle of alcohol.

Taste: Peaches, toffee, chocolate, modest bitter hopping, and a nice oak presence.

Mouthfeel: Creamy and thick.

Overall: A great sipper, very complex, very fruity, chocolatey, and showcases the oak aging, without over powering..
