Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a chilled pint glass.

Appearance: This beer reminds me of a dark, cherry wooden desk or bookcase in color. It is a bit cloudy but still quite transparent for its dark nature.

Aroma: Very fruity with smells of cherry, cranberry and possibly apple but with distinct vanilla malty hints in the background.

Taste: This beer is probably named Three Philosophers because it took three guys to dump all the flavors in the brew. It is very sweet with a subtle cranberry tartness. The slightly bitter chocolate notes are balanced perfect with the sweetness from the fruits.

Mouthfeel: A little sticky like warm honey. Also very creamy and luscious like a dessert wine.

Overall: For once I have to agree that the critics were actually right. This beer is as amazing as any I’ve had. In hindsight, I wish I would have saved a few of these to cellar like many claim is the only way to indulge. However, they were too tasty going down that saving them almost seems like more of a crime.
