Review – Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti

Submitted by Dan on April 1, 2009 – 11:48 am No Comment

Great Divide 2009From Great Divide Brewing Co.Oaked Aged Yeti is Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling. They may be from the same clan, but they have entirely different personalities. Oak aging gives a subtle vanilla character, rounding out Yeti’s intense roastiness and huge hoppy nature. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti?

Great Divide Brewing Co. – Oak Aged Yeti – 22 oz. bottle poured into my New Belgium beer glass. 9.5% abv. From Matt in Georgia!

Appearance: Pours a jet black with a large foamy tan head.

Aroma: Milk chocolate, cappuccino, and a little bit of wood.

Taste: Chocolate, oak, and roasted malts.

Mouthfeel: Thick and creamy.

Overall: A very big, yet balanced Imperial. The oak and chocolate are in harmony in this beer, and I was mighty impressed.
