Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Vintage 2009

From Goose Island Brewing – Brewed in honor of the 1000th batch at our original Clybourn brewpub. A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with thick foam the color of a bourbon barrel. The nose is an intense mix of charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer. A great cigar beer.

Goose Island – Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Vintage 2009 – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 13% abv.

Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a tan ring around the top.

Aroma: Bourbon notes featuring vanilla, alcohol, grahm cracker, toffee and caramel. After the bourbon, you can swell roast and almost burnt roast.

Taste: Warming bourbon, vanilla, burnt sugar, roast, slight burnt roast, and spicy hop finish.

Mouthfeel: Very thick, but less syrupy than last years batch.

Overall: The best barrel aged beer on the market. Big, powerful and bold, and needs to be paired with something. This year, I had this with a cup of French Vanilla Ice Cream covered in Chocolate syrup.
