Allagash Grand Cru

Submitted by Dan on December 23, 2009 – 6:57 am No Comment

From Allagash Brewing - Allagash Grand Cru is our winter seasonal. We brew this special, deep-golden colored beer each year in limited quantities. It has a full, yet refined malty palate and a gentle fruit and spice aroma.

Allagash Brewing Co. – Allagash Grand Cru – 750 ml bottle poured into a goblet. 7.2% abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market Arroyo Pasadena,CA.

Appearance: Pours a light aubrun with a lasting fluffy tan head.

Aroma: Fruity spicy yeast, candi sugar, brown sugar and cloves.

Taste: Candi sugar, clove, spicy hop, spicy malt. Came off a bit boozy as well.

Mouthfeel: Fizzy and thick.

Overall: Reminded me of many Unibroue beers.  There are many other Allagash beers I enjoy more, and don’t mind paying $5.00 more for their fancier stuff.
